I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 681 - 273: The Headless Knight

Chapter 681 - 273: The Headless Knight

Lancer’s spyglass shook violently as he turned to observe the gigantic alchemical element cannon, where a large group of pirates was reloading it. Their actions were chaotic and unprofessional, but a faint white glow was already emanating from its enormous barrel. "That thing! It’s charging again!"The sailors who heard Lancer’s shout trembled slightly, fear creeping into their hearts. Damn pirates, if it weren’t for the ambush that slowed down the Mermaid, they could use water manipulation to quickly catch up. Whether it’s a boarding battle or a close-range cannon fight, even a slight frown from them would be deemed cowardly. They didn’t fear death itself, but rather the current predicament which rendered their deaths valueless and devoid of honor.

Simmons took a deep breath. Damn it, who wants to harm him? Damn it, they should come. The enemy evidently knows his route and his combat power.

Although he had experienced Hedan’s war, it was his first time leading an army personally. His heart pounded like a drum, but soon, the initial tension of facing the battlefield was completely suppressed. He watched the pirate ship widening its distance, then looked at the first mate who was still diligently directing the ship to reposition, striving for the second opportunity to fire, and suddenly murmured, "Enough."

He turned and briskly walked toward the bow of the ship.

"Everyone, retreat to the port side! Clear the bow! Apart from me, no one is allowed to approach!" His voice was not high, yet it swept across the deck like thunder.

The sailors at the bow froze for a moment, then quickly complied with the order, retreating swiftly. The first mate sharply turned to Simmons, "Sir, are you going to use that?!"

"There are no other choices." Simmons didn’t pause and had already strode to the bow. The Mermaid, able to endure hundreds of brutal battles without sinking, besides the core ability of high-speed navigation brought by water manipulation, had a final trump card. He didn’t want to use it in the very first battle. This trump card requires a lot of time to cool down after every use.

The mermaid statue at the bow of the Mermaid shimmered coldly under the ominous clouds. On the statue’s back was a palm-sized recess, filled with twisted vortex-like engravings.

This was technology left behind during the era of the sea god civilization, discovered years ago by the Moncalleta Royal Family on the sea.

Simmons took out the dagger from his bosom, which was no more than a foot long, with a handle resembling a carved jade mermaid.

The Mermaid Blade, its blade not metal but a translucent bone, rumored to be forged from the willingly sacrificed collarbone and soul of a mermaid. Inside the translucent blade, blue light surged. Upon close inspection, countless tiny blue light threads could be seen swimming slowly.

Simmons knelt on one knee, slowly inserting the Mermaid Blade into the recess, then gradually twisting it.

Crack! Crack, crack...

An ancient forbidden lock slowly and resolutely opened under Simmons’ twist of the Mermaid Blade. In an instant, a suffocatingly immense suction force surged from deep within the ship!

Simmons, kneeling on one knee, let out a muffled grunt, his other knee almost slammed into the deck as he fell. Kneeling before the mermaid statue, his spirit, life force, even a part of his soul was violently seized by the surging force from the statue, flooding into it fervently.

Simmons’ head suddenly raised, his pupils contracted sharply, then were covered by a layer of white mist... he saw it.

Within three kilometers centered around the statue, the outlines of all living creatures appeared in his vision... no, those weren’t his eyes, but numerous stark white veins branded directly into his consciousness, too many... Simmons fiercely shook his head, filtering, differentiating, and blocking out those fish at the bottom of the sea, leaving only the pirate ship suddenly magnified.

Locked!

Simmons swiftly pulled out the Mermaid Blade a bit, then deeply stabbed it into the mermaid statue and twisted!

"Go to hell."

Crack...

The mermaid statue seemed to come to life, suddenly lifting its head, those open arms erupted with dazzling silver-blue arcs of lightning!

The lightning initially extended crazily towards the sky in a tree-like shape, thousands of silver snakes danced wildly, illuminating the dark clouds covering tens of miles. Subsequently, all those electric webs abruptly converged mid-air, forming a blindingly blue spear-like pillar!

It defied logic, didn’t require a trajectory, didn’t care about wind direction or distance.

In an instant, the blue electric spear pierced through the distant black pirate ship.

Rumble...

The entire pirate ship ignited like a powder keg, blazing blue flames spewing from every seam. On the deck, the pirates didn’t even have time to scream, instantly vaporized into ashes as the electricity passed through. The ship’s hull twisted and melted under the high heat, akin to a candle dripping under intense heat.

"Hit!" Lancer jubilantly jumped up, "Captain destroyed them!"

The first mate grinned widely, "No one can withstand the fury of the Mermaid!"

The sailors on the deck also raised their arms in wild cheers, victory!

Only Simmons did not smile.

He still knelt on the deck, his wide-open eyes rolling wildly in white mist, body trembling.

The spiritual link with the Mermaid Blade hadn’t severed yet.

He saw it.

The alchemical element cannon appeared not to have suffered much damage from the lightning, only a bit blackened on the cannon itself. Right beside the giant cannon, a figure... stood there.

No signs of anomaly could be seen on him.

The person wore old-fashioned pitch-black battle armor, somewhat resembling knight’s armor. He lowered his head, glanced at the melted deck beneath his feet, and then reached out to touch the blackened cannon barrel, as if checking if a fragile porcelain piece was still intact.

"...Great Angel, damn!" Simmons’ throat was hoarse, his voice dry as a withered autumn leaf clenched in someone’s hand.

The next moment, he twisted the Mermaid Blade recklessly again and then stabbed it deeper into the statue.

This time, the Mermaid wailed.

The secret art pool in the core cabin instantly boiled, even though the priests kept replenishing it, it was still quickly evaporated!

A lightning net even larger and more violent than the first soared from the bow of the Mermaid, nearly shrouding the entire sky!

Another blue lightning spear thundered towards the pirate ship.

As if finally sensing the sprawling electric light, only at this moment did the Dark Angel on the pirate ship slightly raise his head, his figure suddenly vanished, and the next second blocked the Mermaid cannon’s attack with his body.

Rumble...

The waves surged, the distant Mermaid nearly flipping from the huge waves. Just as everyone was about to cheer, they realized a terrifying spiritual ability appeared mid-air.

A gigantic horse appeared on the sea, a knight dressed in black armor riding on it, his hood shattered... he had no head.

The Headless Knight looked at the Mermaid, Simmons felt a chill throughout his body, as if stared down by a devil. He abruptly pulled out the Mermaid Blade, then turned and shouted toward Lancer and the others: "Quick! Escape! Jump ship!"

Black spiritual ability unfolded all over, the black Headless Knight lashed his whip and urged his horse, the lance in his hand launched.

A massive spiritual ability beam blasted toward the Mermaid, slicing through the bow, piercing straight through to the stern.

At the same time, another alchemical element cannon followed right after, hitting the defenseless Mermaid head-on. Accompanying a loud explosion, the entire Mermaid shook like it’s heaven and earth splitting. Simmons’ ears rang, losing hearing, and despite desperately dodging, he was slowed down by the force drained by the Mermaid’s pull. He was slightly grazed by the monstrous power.

Simmons fell into the sea along with the toppling Mermaid, his sight went black suddenly, terrible... the sea rushed towards him, and the cold darkness swallowed his final consciousness.
