Chapter 982 - 212: Epilogue 6
Seeing this, Fang Jingyi let out an almost inaudible snort and said, "Where’s the study? Let’s talk in the study."
Rong Sinan’s brows drew together. He stepped forward, walked to Yige’s side, took one of her hands, and looked at Fang Jingyi. "Mom, whatever you want to say, just say it here."
"Sinan, what I’m going to say to her has to be said alone. ’Alone’ means no one else present, including you." Fang Jingyi said.
Rong Sinan was about to say something when the back of his hand was covered by a soft palm.
Rong Sinan frowned and turned his head to look at Yige.
Tang Yige gave him a small smile. "It’s fine."
Rong Sinan, "..."
...
The study.
Tang Yige walked into the study. She had just closed the door when she heard Fang Jingyi say, "Shengge Law Firm will go to you. But the child belongs to our Rong Family. There’s no way we’ll let you take him away."
Tang Yige paused slightly, turned to look at Fang Jingyi, and spoke in a calm voice. "What is it you want to say?"
"You know I’ve never liked you." Fang Jingyi said bluntly.
Tang Yige said nothing.
Although she had grown up together with Rong Sinan, Rong Mochen and the others, and because of Rong Sinan, Yige was always hanging around right under Fang Jingyi’s nose.
But Yige had a careless, unrestrained temperament.
So in the eyes of Fang Jingyi, who prided herself on being a lady of good breeding, she naturally wasn’t a likable child.
But back then, Fang Jingyi’s dislike of her wasn’t that obvious. At least she wouldn’t go out of her way to stop her from looking for Rong Sinan.
Fang Jingyi came to utterly despise her after the hotel incident.
From then on, whenever Fang Jingyi looked at her, it was always with that kind of gaze that wished she could peel off her skin and tear out her tendons.
"So even though you’ve already given Sinan Little Rui, I still don’t like you. And I still won’t agree to you being with Sinan. That is my stance. And it will not change." Fang Jingyi faced Tang Yige with the lofty posture of someone in absolute control.
As if if she didn’t agree to them being together, then she and Rong Sinan really would have no outcome but going their separate ways.
Tang Yige looked at Fang Jingyi’s resolute gaze, and her hands hanging at her sides tightened slightly.
Now she understood.
If Fang Jingyi didn’t have absolute confidence, she would never show such a certain look in front of her.
Tang Yige took a deep breath, her gaze on Fang Jingyi still calm. "You called me in here just to talk about this?"
"You can think of it that way!"
Fang Jingyi said.
Tang Yige gave a slight nod. "I understand what you’re saying."
"So? Your decision?" Fang Jingyi narrowed her eyes.
"I will never separate from Brother. No one can break up our family of three. That’s my decision." Tang Yige’s eyes were firm.
Fang Jingyi’s face turned cold. "You’ve already got Shengge, what more do you want? All these years, haven’t you sisters caused Sinan enough harm?"
Harm?
Tang Yige clenched her hands. "I’ve never wanted to hurt anyone, and Brother is the last person I’d ever want to hurt. How could I possibly harm him?"
"Still pretending!"
Fang Jingyi suddenly took two steps forward, glaring at Tang Yige with hateful anger. "There’s no one else here, Tang Yige. Why bother putting on a show in front of me, acting all pitiful and pure? Who do you think you’re fooling?"
Tang Yige knitted her brows. "Why would I lie to you?"
"Because you’re greedy and never satisfied! Because you’re a pervert!" Fang Jingyi accused.
Greedy and never satisfied. A pervert?
Tang Yige didn’t feel anger, only a baffling confusion, as she looked at Fang Jingyi. "If you’re referring to me accepting Shengge Law Firm, you can rest assured, Shengge Law Firm is Brother’s hard work. I would never want to hog it for myself. If you’re unhappy about it, I can transfer the shares back to Brother at any time. As for your other accusations, I really don’t know why you would say that, so I’m unable to explain anything to you."
"No wonder you and Jin Jumo get along so well. When it comes to pretending, I’ve never seen anyone who can put on a better act than you and that Jin Jumo!"
Fang Jingyi let out a furious, icy laugh.
"Just talk about me." Tang Yige frowned. "No matter what, Momo is now Mo Chen’s wife, your daughter-in-law, and before long she’ll give you another grandchild."
"Heh."
Fang Jingyi’s smile was all surface and no warmth. "What, the two of you are kindred spirits now?"
Tang Yige said nothing.
"Fine, then I’ll just talk about you."
As she spoke, Fang Jingyi walked over and sat upright on the sofa in the study, fixing her gaze straight on Tang Yige. "Let me ask you, were you the one who locked Tang Ruan up some time ago? Those injuries on her body, were they your doing?"
Tang Yige’s expression jolted, and she looked at Fang Jingyi.
Seeing her reaction, Fang Jingyi knew at once that what Tang Ruan had said was indeed true.
Her eyes narrowed. "Tang Yige, in all my life I, Fang Jingyi, have never feared anyone! I don’t care if you’re a pervert or a lunatic. For my son’s sake, I won’t let someone as dangerous and ill-intentioned as you stay by his side just because I’m afraid of you."
"...Was it Tang Ruan who told you I did those things?" Tang Yige clenched her hands so hard her knuckles were white, staring at Fang Jingyi as she spoke.
Fang Jingyi paused for a moment, perhaps worried that Tang Yige would go "completely off the rails" and retaliate against Tang Ruan, and said, "Don’t concern yourself with who told me. What matters is that it’s true. This isn’t something made up out of thin air."
Tang Yige drew in a long, heavy breath.
Even though Fang Jingyi wouldn’t admit it was Tang Ruan.
Other than Tang Ruan, Tang Yige couldn’t think of anyone else.
So all that talk from Tang Ruan about recognizing her mistakes and regretting everything—turns out not a single word of it was worth believing.
A cold light flashed in Tang Yige’s eyes, and it just happened to be caught by Fang Jingyi.
She said she wasn’t afraid, but of course she was.
After all, who isn’t afraid when they’re really dealing with a pervert?!
Fang Jingyi felt a chill in her heart, but on the surface she forced herself to appear calm and composed. She cleared her throat quietly and said, "I know about all the things you’ve done. Tell me, what mother would let her own son marry a woman like you? So even if it costs me my life, I, Fang Jingyi, will never allow Sinan to marry you!"
"It wasn’t me!" Tang Yige said.
"Not you? Then who was it?" Fang Jingyi stared at Tang Yige.
Tang Yige bit down on her lower lip, looking at Fang Jingyi but unable to say a word.
She couldn’t exactly tell her that all of it was done by her son, that "pervert," could she?!
"Hah, nothing to say now, can you?!"
Fang Jingyi let out a cold laugh, as if she’d seen right through Tang Yige’s little act.
Tang Yige closed her eyes for a moment. "Believe it or not, none of that was done by me."
Fang Jingyi didn’t want to get entangled with her on this topic.
She’d already decided it was her anyway. "Then this business of you being unable to conceive again—is that fake too?"
Tang Yige’s face suddenly went deathly pale, and bloodshot veins instantly crawled across her eyes.
Whether or not she already had Rong Rui.
The fact that she could no longer conceive was always a raw wound for Tang Yige.
Seeing her reaction, Fang Jingyi let out another cold cackle. "So it’s true, isn’t it?"
Tang Yige’s lips were pressed so tight they turned white. "...Yes."
"Heh. You’ve made yourself into something that’s barely even a woman anymore, and you still expect me to let Sinan marry you?"
Fang Jingyi shook her head. "Tang Yige, no matter what your state of mind is now, I’d like to think you still have a little softness and humanity left in you as a mother, right? If Rong Rui grows up someday and wants to marry a woman like you, would you agree?"
Tang Yige didn’t know just how unbearable she was in Fang Jingyi’s eyes.
But to use Rong Rui as an example just to demean her—was that really appropriate?
Or did she truly think that she’d gone completely numb, that she could resist any words thrown at her, that nothing would hurt anymore?
Tang Yige clenched her teeth, the red in her eyes deepening. "I believe Ms. Fang has said everything she wanted to say by now. I still have things to do, so I won’t be keeping you company."
With that, Tang Yige headed toward the study door.
Fang Jingyi stared coldly at her back. "Tang Yige, if only for the sake of Little Rui growing up in a healthy, normal environment, I’m asking you to leave Sinan and leave Little Rui!"
Tang Yige paused slightly and looked back at Fang Jingyi. "And why should I? Little Rui is my son. Brother and I truly love each other. Why should I leave? Don’t you think your demand is completely unreasonable, Ms. Fang?"
"I’m not going to argue with you. There’s no winning an argument with someone whose mind isn’t right! Just remember this: I, Fang Jingyi, will do whatever it takes, at any cost, to stop Sinan from being with you! As long as I, Fang Jingyi, am alive, you, Tang Yige, can forget about marrying into our Rong Family and ruining Sinan and Little Rui!"
Fang Jingyi’s voice was forceful and hard.
"Then let me tell you this as well! I, Tang Yige, in this lifetime will never leave Sinan or leave Little Rui!"
Tang Yige flung down these icy words and strode quickly to the study door, opened it, and walked out.
And the moment she stepped out, Rong Sinan, who had been sitting on the sofa, immediately stood up, his handsome face tight with worry as he walked over toward her.
