Global Mercenaries: Starting from the Russia-Ukraine War

Chapter 48 Contacting Vorov

Chapter 48 Contacting Vorov

The others also came over one after another, either punching Lu Ye a couple of times or patting his head!

"Alright. Let's hurry, we still have a tough battle ahead!"

After a brief rest, Yuri quickly began assigning tasks to everyone.

"Roman! Use all remaining C4, tripwire mines, and directional mines! Establish two lines of blast defense around the freight cars!"

"The first line was set up on the gravel road 30 meters away, using tripwires and C4 to make a series of explosions to block their frontal advance."

"The second layer, close to the first row of carriages, cuts outwards at a 45-degree angle to the directional mines, creating a deadly funnel zone!"

"Lu Ye, get on the train and cover Roman!"

"Understood!" After relieving his fatigue for a while, Lu Ye quickly climbed onto the first carriage after receiving the order and began to observe the surrounding situation.

Thirty seconds later, he waved to Roman!

"Understood! Leave it to me!" Roman's backpack emerged from under the carriage and came into Lu Ye's view.

Yuri's commands continued to come through the tactical headset.

"Ruslan! You are the core of our defense!"

"There's a steel buffer shelter at the junction between the third and fourth carriages. From there, your firing range can cover the entire gravel plaza ahead!"

"No problem, boss."

"Artyom, you're in charge of flanking support. If any stragglers get close, take them out with your rifle!"

"They also used the gaps between the first row of carriages and the space under them to lay booby traps."

"Eugene! Continue monitoring enemy communications channels. If they attempt electronic jamming of our area, retaliate immediately!"

"Roger!" Eugene replied decisively!

Yuri paused noticeably after issuing all the instructions!

Lu Ye, who was observing the surrounding situation, heard Yuri's criticism!

"Lu. This is a team effort now, you need to trust your teammates. I don't want to see what happened again."

Lu Ye knew he had taken too big a gamble, but every step he took since entering this battlefield was a gamble, and if he didn't gamble his way to his doom!

"However, you've improved very quickly! This should be your first time participating in a team operation, and your performance has completely exceeded my expectations!"

"Boss, this is the second time! I will follow orders from now on!" Lu Ye admitted his mistake and was able to correct it.

"The second time? The first time with Dmitry? What kind of combat mission was that!" Yuri continued. "What I want to tell you is that you need to have your own judgment about the battlefield situation!"

"Only you know the full extent of your situation. At the same time, you must learn to trust your teammates and seek their support!"

"Understood, boss!" Lu Ye knew that Yuri was teaching him something.

"Lu, after you've covered Roman, go into the carriage next to you."

Lu Ye slightly turned his head and glanced out of the corner of his eye; it was a flatbed truck loaded with large wooden crates.

"Your mission is to eliminate the enemies attempting to launch a heavy attack on Ruslan, especially grenade launchers and RPGs!"

"Received," Lu Ye replied.

Just as the six were nervously and methodically establishing multiple lines of defense, Eugene's voice suddenly rang out on the channel.

"Boss! Major Wolf's encrypted channel is connected!"

"Take it!" Yuri sneered and pressed the communication button. "Major, you're really slow."

Wolf's gruff voice came through the earpiece: "Enough talk, Yuri! What's going on on the ground?"

"The good news is that we have destroyed the mortar and missile launch positions on the eastern flank. Your armored company can now advance directly from the east."

As Yuri organized the magazines, he coldly reported, "In addition, their drone depot has also been destroyed."

"What about the north side?" Vorov pressed. "Were the heavy machine guns in those three factory buildings on the north side taken out?"

"No," Yuri replied directly. "Major, the intelligence you provided is incorrect. The enemy's patrol routes have changed! After we infiltrated the area, there was no route to the northern defense line."

There was a two-second silence on the other end of the channel, followed by a burst of disgruntled snorts: "Yuri, this isn't what we agreed on!"

"The machine gun positions on the north side are still intact. If my troops advance from the northeast, they will suffer even greater losses. Since you didn't destroy all the targets as agreed, this deal must be recalculated! I want 65% of the profits!"

"You're dreaming! Because of your intelligence failure, my men were fighting tooth and nail inside. And now you want to take advantage of their misfortune?"

"That's your problem! I only care about the results!" Wolford clearly didn't want to admit defeat.

Hearing the greedy tone in the other man's voice, Yuri suddenly sneered: "Major, what if... we take out the enemy's supreme commander?"

The communication channel fell silent immediately after these words were spoken.

A few seconds later, Wolf's voice, filled with doubt and shock, rang out again.

"Yuri, do you think I'd believe such nonsense? Six of you can sneak into the core area and take out their supreme commander?"

"When you storm Kalinovka, you can go to the central control building to verify this yourself," Yuri said with certainty.

"The command system is paralyzed; they're now leaderless. This outcome more than makes up for failing to destroy the machine gun positions on the north side!"

There was a full ten seconds of silence on the other end of the communicator.

"Okay... if you really manage to take down the enemy commander, then the distribution ratio will proceed as originally planned, 40/60." Vorov finally relented.

"Then stop talking nonsense and start the attack immediately!" Yuri urged.

"Don't rush, Yuri." Vorov's tone began to shift subtly. "The dense fog is severely slowing down our armored company's advance."

"It will take us at least fifteen more minutes to reach our attack position. You guys hold on in there a little longer."

Upon hearing this, Yuri laughed angrily: "Fifteen minutes? Major, that's not the time we agreed on!"

"And are you sure you want to stall for time? You might not even know our exact location right now."

"Where are you?" Wolf asked.

Yuri glanced at the second and third rows of carriages covered with camouflage netting behind him, his tone tinged with sarcasm: "The defensive position we've established is those eight freight carriages on the south side, filled with high-value NATO military aid supplies."

"If the Ukrainian army launches a fierce counterattack, I can't guarantee that the six million dollars worth of supplies won't be turned into a pile of scrap metal in the fighting."

"F**k!" Wolf roared through the communicator, clearly sounding exasperated.

"You dare use my money as a shield! You're fucking cunning!"

"Likewise, Major. I always have to be prepared when dealing with you," Yuri retorted without holding back.

The next second, Yuri heard Wolf's frantic roar from the other end of the channel:

"First and Second Companies, full speed ahead! Forget the damn formation! Charge in! We absolutely cannot let the Ukrainians blow up my carriages! Don't delay my money-making!"

The communication was disconnected.

"Looks like our foreign aid is finally willing to put in the effort." Yuri stuffed the communicator back into his tactical vest.
