Looking at his panel and the huge sum of 4400 points, Lu Ye felt more confident and assured.
Two hours later, a Mi-8AMTSh armed transport helicopter, painted entirely in dark green and without any national markings, landed on the outskirts of the camp, kicking up a huge cloud of dust.
Under Major Vorov's watchful eye, Yuri led a team of six, carrying heavy equipment and helping each other onto the helicopter.
This was Lu Ye's first time riding in a real military helicopter.
The cabin was filled with the smells of kerosene, engine oil, and a lingering stench of blood.
The moment the hatch closed, even the huge soundproof earmuffs couldn't block out the terrifying roar of the engine.
The helicopter lifted off the ground, and the intense feeling of weightlessness and violent shaking of the aircraft made Lu Ye instinctively tighten his seatbelt.
He turned to look out the window; Camp 17 gradually shrank and finally disappeared completely into the night.
Only at this moment, looking at Yuri and the others around him who were resting with their eyes closed, did Lu Ye feel a sense of reality.
He was no longer the cannon fodder that was discarded at will, but a mercenary who had proven his worth on the battlefield.
-----------------
After flying for about thirty minutes, the helicopter began to slow down and descend.
Lu Ye looked down through the porthole.
This is a wilderness located about eight kilometers west of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.
On the surface, there are only a few abandoned factories and some mounds covered with camouflage netting.
The helicopter landed on a secluded helipad in a valley.
As soon as they landed, several all-terrain vehicles quickly drove over, picked them up, and drove them into the entrance of a huge underground tunnel.
"Welcome to the Morozovsk rest camp," Yuri said to Rikuno.
Lu Ye looked around; it was completely different from what he had imagined.
He thought that such frontline camps should be completely hidden in underground air-raid shelters.
This key camp, located 30 kilometers from the front line, has most of its facilities built directly on the ground, with only a very few core areas buried deep underground in reliance on Soviet-era field fortifications.
"Lu, before we get to the hospital, let me show you around this camp." Yuri seemed to sense Lu Ye's curiosity, and his voice was a little hoarse.
"This place is a huge hub, a melting pot of all sorts of people. You have to memorize the rules and zoning."
Lu Ye turned his gaze away from the window and nodded: "Boss, what is it?"
Yuri pointed to the towering concrete wall behind the transport vehicle: "The outer defensive facilities are all on the ground. You just saw it, a five-meter-high wall, high-voltage barbed wire, and a fifty-meter-wide mine warning zone around it."
"Heavy machine guns are mounted on the four corner all-weather guard towers, and the sentry posts and infrared early warning system are connected to the central computer."
"The place where we just transferred was the logistics and transportation area, which is also on the ground. There are three helicopter landing pads, and next to them is a huge vehicle parking and maintenance yard."
"As long as you're willing to pay, even the turret of a BTR armored vehicle can be replaced with a new one by those maintenance soldiers. The fuel depot, supply depot, and outdoor tactical firing range are all in that area."
The transport vehicle turned a corner, and a large cluster of prefabricated buildings appeared ahead, flashing various neon lights and making a lot of noise.
"That area on the left is the living and rest area." Yuri's tone carried a hint of unspoken understanding that belonged to men.
"That's the place we mercenaries love most. Besides the usual mercenary barracks, mess hall, 24-hour water supply room, and shower room, the real highlight is the entertainment area."
Yuri leaned closer and pointed to one of the buildings that was glowing red: "See that bar called Rusty Shells? It has the best vodka and whiskey in the camp, and there's even a chaotic fighting cage and a casino in the basement."
"There's an alley behind the bar...we call it the Pink Debacle. Women from Eastern Europe, South America, and even Asia all live there."
"As long as you have US dollars or a anonymous credit card, you can enjoy royal treatment there. Of course, the prerequisite is that you have to come back from the battlefield alive."
Lu Ye looked in the direction Yuri pointed and memorized these locations one by one, his expression unchanged.
"As for the three-story building on the right with the Red Cross emblem, that's the medical treatment area we're heading to now," Yuri continued. "The main building has operating rooms and wards. Behind it are temperature-controlled warehouses, as well as isolation and recuperation barracks and physiotherapy rooms for the seriously wounded."
The transport vehicle began to slow down, and Yuri pointed to the deepest part of the camp, where there were two huge blast-proof steel doors leading underground.
"Finally, there's the underground area. The first basement level is the ordnance and defense area, with dedicated firearms maintenance workshops and ammunition and munitions warehouses. Bulletproof vests, night vision goggles, C4 explosives, and even special melee weapons are all traded there."
"The second basement level is the core of the entire camp, the command, communications, and administration area. There you'll find the sand table tactical room and the radio for external communications."
Yuri patted Lu Ye on the shoulder, his tone turning serious: "Lu, remember this. You are only a formal member I verbally acknowledge right now; your identity file is still going through the Undertaker's higher-ups' approval process."
"You must not approach the core area of the second basement level before you receive your official identification tag, otherwise the camp's internal guards will shoot you as a spy."
"I understand." Lu Ye nodded solemnly.
As they were talking, the transport vehicle had already stopped at the main medical building.
A prepared stretcher and several military doctors were wheeled out.
"Come down, brothers!" Yuri called out.
Ruslan was lifted onto a stretcher, and Eugene, Artyom, and Roman helped each other jump off the vehicle.
Lu Ye carried his SVCh sniper rifle in one hand, following beside Yuri.
Just as the six people reached the entrance of the hospital lobby, the automatic glass door slid open from the middle.
A group of four people walked out towards us.
Leading the way was a burly man with a shaved head, a square face, and light blue eyes.
He was wearing a sand-yellow tactical vest, his muscles bulging, and his body wrapped in several layers of white bandages.
The three men following behind him were equally burly, with a sinister look in their eyes.
Yuri stopped and narrowed his eyes slightly.
