Chapter 207 - 183: I Regret It
"What demon dares to spout such nonsense! This is Qixia Cave!"
"Qixia Cave is not Water Curtain Cave! Don’t speak nonsense if you don’t know what you’re talking about!"
The Fat Monk and the old beggar protecting Ye Qitian immediately roared.
By now, however, Ye Qitian could already see the information of the "Monkey King" before him. He was even more shocked, because he was seeing the information for Sun Wukong.
Wang Yi chuckled, glancing over the three people in the cave. "It isn’t Water Curtain Cave now," he said, "but it will be!"
Wang Yi had already decided to move Qixia Mountain back to his own territory. Of course, he didn’t have enough Chaos Energy to use Refinement on it yet, but with Yamero Star providing Chaos Crystal Stones, he estimated he would have enough very soon.
Wang Yi was also curious whether his Refining Mountains and Rivers ability could be used on landscapes within another Player’s territory. He planned to use Qixia Mountain as an experiment.
"You madman, are you saying Qixia Mountain will be destroyed? Such arrogance! Let this old beggar see what you’re made of!"
With that, the old beggar rolled up his sleeves, looking like he was about to charge forward and fight the group of Great Saints.
"Wait!"
"Stop!"
Shouts erupted simultaneously from inside and outside the cave.
The shout from inside came from Ye Qitian.
’That beggar is too arrogant,’ he thought. ’He actually wants to fight Sun Wukong. Even if that isn’t the real Sun Wukong, the fact that he could just swagger in here means he’s powerful. If the old beggar attacks and provokes him, I’m afraid I’ll get dragged down with them.’
The one who had shouted from outside was a young man.
The man wore a blood-stained white robe and carried a Longsword in his hand as he slowly walked into the cave.
A squad of injured Beastmen followed behind him.
This man was none other than Lv Jing, the "Adoptive Son of Unparalleled Chivalry" whom Ye Qitian had hatched from a Chaos Egg.
"I knew it. I knew the first one in would be you. Haha! You’re the most familiar with this Qixia Cave. Only you know the route well enough to fight your way here this quickly! So, my son... have you come to kill your father?"
Ye Qitian seemed to realize there was no escape for him today. A sense of acceptance washed over him. "Fine, fine, fine," he said. "Dying by your hand is better than dying to the Ogres. Come on. Do it!"
But Lv Jing suddenly dropped to his knees, his eyes welling with tears. "Adoptive Father, as long as you live, this world will be wracked by endless war. As long as you live, the common people will surely suffer. I am being unfilial, but for the sake of the world, for the sake of all living beings, I can only ask you to die! Do not worry, Father. I will take my own life afterward and follow you on the road to the underworld!"
Ye Qitian burst out laughing. "You’re a complete idiot! I’ve told you before, this is a game world! There are countless other Players just like me. Do you really think killing me will bring peace to the world? You truly are a good adoptive son!"
He suddenly pointed to Wang Yi. "He’s a Player, too! In the future, he’ll definitely raise an army and wage war, and he’ll definitely make the common people suffer! His name is Sun Wukong. If you’ve got the guts, why don’t you kill him, too?"
Hearing this, Lv Jing turned to Wang Yi and actually performed a cupped-fist salute. "I am Lv Jing," he said. "For the sake of all living beings, I ask Sun Wukong to accept death..."
Wang Yi shook his head. "You’ve misunderstood. I’m not here to wage war; I’m here to hire workers! My place is in need of a large workforce. I offer room and board, and the benefits are excellent. Are you interested?"
"Hm?"
Lv Jing froze. So did everyone else.
Wang Yi waved a hand, and Pang Damao, who was standing behind him, immediately stepped forward to explain.
Lv Jing only grasped about half of it, but he asked, "Do you accept Beastman Laborers?"
"We do, of course we do!" Pang Damao nodded. "We’ll take as many as you’ve got!"
Lv Jing’s expression grew thoughtful. After a minute, he said slowly, "My fate is sealed today. The Ogres at the foot of the mountain are ferocious, and the Southern King’s Prince Mansion army is holding strong. They won’t let the Beastmen live..."
The man of unparalleled chivalry slowly bowed to Wang Yi. "There are several thousand Beastmen outside the cave, most of them injured. If you, sir, can lead them to safety, I would be eternally grateful!"
Wang Yi said, "Don’t worry. I can get them out."
Lv Jing seemed relieved as well. He laughed, then turned to the Beastman Laborers behind him. "Go on," he said. "Follow these gentlemen. Leave this place, leave this war. I hope you all survive!"
The injured Beastmen seemed slow-witted, but they weren’t stupid. One by one, they knelt silently before Lv Jing.
"Go! I can’t protect you anymore!"
Lv Jing waved his hand again. The Beastmen departed slowly, looking back with every few steps.
Wang Yi also gestured with his hand. Man Datou and Pang Damao understood the signal and headed out of the cave as well.
At this, Lv Jing rose to his feet and turned back to Ye Qitian. "The Beastmen who first followed me were all injured and disabled. They earned military honors, they conquered cities, but just because they were wounded, you, my lord father, cast them aside like worthless weeds, leaving them to fend for themselves! Those Beastmen may look different from us, but they have flesh and blood all the same. They are simple and kind. You should never have treated them as mere tools! And so, I must once again ask you to die, Father!"
With that, Lv Jing raised his sword and charged at Ye Qitian.
Wang Yi folded his arms and watched from the sidelines. He had no intention of meddling in other people’s affairs, so he simply watched the drama unfold without getting involved.
The Fat Monk and the old beggar quickly moved to intercept Lv Jing. They both knew Martial Arts, and their skills were quite formidable.
Wang Yi had a discerning eye now. He judged that Lv Jing, the Fat Monk, and the old beggar were all likely Heroic Level combatants. They were possibly stronger than War King Sparta, but they would be no match for the Fire Fire Evil God.
Lv Jing’s combat power, however, was a cut above the Fat Monk’s and the old beggar’s. His fighting style was ferocious, trading blow for blow, injury for injury. After three minutes, though grievously wounded himself, he had killed both the old beggar and the Fat Monk.
Covered in gore, his eyes bloodshot, he walked toward Ye Qitian with his Blood Sword in hand.
A bitter smile appeared on Ye Qitian’s face. He said slowly, "Sigh... I know it’s useless to say anything now. Lv Jing, believe it or not, I regret it. I truly, truly regret it—I’m kicking myself over it! If I had another chance, I swear I wouldn’t be like this. Maybe I would have cherished the people as my own children, maybe I wouldn’t have been so quick to wage war... and maybe then, you wouldn’t have betrayed me..."
With that, he closed his eyes and tilted his head back, offering his neck to the blade.
Lv Jing’s expression was complex. He slowly walked up to Ye Qitian and raised his Longsword. He hesitated for a moment, but ultimately, the sword fell.
The next moment, Ye Qitian’s body dissolved into motes of light and vanished.
The Chaos Lord really hadn’t resisted. He had died just like that.
Immediately after, however, Lv Jing turned his sword on himself, slitting his own throat before collapsing to the ground.
Wang Yi sighed. "Was all that really necessary? What a waste. He could have come mining for me. Why kill himself? And Ye Qitian... what a waste of an S-Class Talent. If I could have put him to use and had him help me with his Unlimited Bursting Soldiers, how great would that have been!"
But what was done was done. Wang Yi didn’t dwell on it.
He was about to leave when he stopped dead in his tracks. He turned around to see Ye Qitian’s figure re-forming and appearing once more.
The expression on Ye Qitian’s face was incredibly complex. He glanced at the three corpses on the floor, then looked up at Wang Yi. "Item resurrection," he said. "One time only. Sun Wukong, give me a chance. I’m willing to go mining for you, and I’m even willing to enter into a deeper cooperation! If you still decide you want to kill me, can you at least let me bury these three first?"
Wang Yi was silent for a moment. Then he turned and walked toward the exit. "The green hills can be a grave for any man. I’ll help you bury them. You’re coming with me."
At Wang Yi’s signal, three Great Sage Avatars stepped forward, each picked up a corpse, and then flew out of Qixia Cave.
Ye Qitian was overjoyed. He cupped his hands and said, "Thank you!"
A moment later, Wang Yi emerged from Qixia Cave and saw a large gathering of Green-skinned Orcs.
Most of the Green-skinned Orcs were wounded. Their eyes were hollow, their expressions lost.
Not one to waste time, Wang Yi released his small train right there on the summit of Qixia Mountain.
When the kilometer-long train appeared, it frightened the Green-skinned Orcs, who all scrambled backward.
"I will take you away from here, to a new world without war! There, as laborers, you will build a new home in peace!"
As he spoke, Wang Yi raised his arm. His Starlight Bracelet flashed, and a large quantity of Fasting Pills appeared.
"One for each of you! Take it and get on the train! Time is of the essence, let’s go!"
The Beastman Laborers all looked at one another, most of them conflicted. After half a minute, a bolder one stepped forward, swallowed a Fasting Pill, and boarded the small train under Pang Damao’s direction.
Once one had taken the lead, the other laborers began to follow suit.
The scene quickly grew bustling. A few minutes later, the Beastman Laborers were scrambling to board, as if afraid they’d be left behind if they were too slow!
It took about an hour, but eventually, all the Green-skinned Orcs had boarded the small train.
Wang Yi didn’t do a precise headcount, but he estimated there were probably three or four thousand of them.
A moment later, Wang Yi boarded the small train with Ye Qitian. He felt this little trip was just about over.
Soon, the kilometer-long train began spewing flames as it rumbled down from the summit.
At the foot of the mountain, Ogres were locked in battle with the Southern King’s Prince Mansion’s pacification army. They all watched as the massive, flaming vehicle rushed down from the mountain, escorted by nine Divine Monkeys in Golden Armor wielding Iron Rods, flying through the air. Everyone scrambled to get out of the way, not daring to make a rash move.
’The Monkey King is clearing the path. Smart of them to get out of the way...’
Wang Yi glanced at the scene outside the train.
The Ogres were little better than wild beasts, fighting with brute force and no strategy whatsoever. He paid them no mind.
As for the army of the Southern King’s Prince Mansion, they were well-equipped, their advances and retreats were orderly, and a Grand General commanded them from the rear. But that was the extent of it. They still weren’t enough to warrant Wang Yi’s serious attention.
The small train didn’t stop, plowing straight through the raging battlefield, carving a path as it headed east.
No one could stop it, and no one dared to try.
Inside the small train, Wang Yi sized up Ye Qitian. "Your Talent isn’t bad," he said. "Tell me all about it..."
’This Ye Qitian can produce an army of hundreds of thousands,’ he mused. ’His ability to pop out soldiers is incredible. If he could pop out a few hundred thousand miners for me... now that would be something.’
’He even had some more sinister ideas, like using the burst soldiers for Alchemy...’
’In any case, Wang Yi felt that subjugating Ye Qitian and putting him to use would definitely be a good thing.’
