Chapter 78: The Specter Killer
Chapter 78: The Specter Killer
Sam gave Jason time to explain himself and Jason knew he would only get one chance at this.
Jason was in terrible shape but he knew that he had to do this otherwise he would never wake up again because there was only so much that Clementine could do.
Jason walked towards Sam, placing his hand on his chest but Sam wondered what he was doing.
"I knew you had on a bulletproof vest, that is why I aimed at your heart and not your head, the head would have been a sure kill but that bulletproof vest would have protected you.." Jason muttered weakly but Sam didn’t have a reaction to this information and just stared at him blankly.
Jason knew that Sam wasn’t convinced and Clementine was lost in this conversation but she knew that she would be brought up to speed once they were done hashing it out.
"Jason, do you think I’m that stupid?" Sam asked and Jason shook his head.
"That is why I know the way you got that knife wasn’t by sheer luck, I dropped it there and jumped in the direction of your gun so I could take it. That is why I was able to kill Clementine. Alex had a strange fascination with you, I knew he wouldn’t just put a bullet in your head... They wanted to test my loyalty by making me kill you and if I could convince them somehow... I will be able to infiltrate this place," Jason said but his legs soon gave out as he was feeling the side effects of his wounds.
"You gambled all of this on this probability? What would have happened if I died?" Sam questioned.
"Then you wouldn’t be called Sam," Jason responded and Sam chuckled faintly.
This was a crazy gamble but he had to admit, this wasn’t such a bad thing that Jason did and Sam respected the fact that he was ready to sacrifice him if it came to shove.
"You’re one sick son of a bitch, Jason," Sam said and Clementine knew at that moment that Jason had earned his respect.
"You should tend to his wounds Clementine or he just might die," Sam said because he knew that Jason would become a liability.
Clementine heaved a sigh of relief seeing that these men had resolved their differences.
Sam wondered where Rodrigo was because he was enjoying his fight with the Specter before the interruption.
They were evenly matched or one could say that Sam had the upper hand but he wondered if there were stronger fighters here.
But he couldn’t lose sight, he had a bigger objective and that was getting out of here.
This place had a lot more firepower than he had anticipated.
Clementine was stitching Jason’s wounds with delicate hands but she had to hurry it up.
The worst was coming to an end, and their chances of survival increased exponentially.

Cindy was in her apartment but something soon happened as bodies dropped outside.
Cindy simply equipped her gun, placing it on her lap as she waited for the person to get in.
She knew exactly who it was because this person was picking off the Specters based on their ranking, if this wasn’t arrogance then she didn’t know what was.
The door slowly opened and Cindy’s head jerked towards the person.
"You’re finally here," Cindy said as she pointed the gun in his direction.
The man that came into view looked like he had died and come back to life, he was covered from head to toe in blood.
He was a pale-skinned man with tattoos covering him from head to toe, he was barely clothed and the wounds on his body showed that he had been tortured but it was unknown why he wasn’t killed. He had wavy blonde hair with ocean blue eyes, he was easily 6’ 3 combined with a physique that even the gods would be envious of.
"You point a gun at me? Pull the trigger or you will only make your death all the more agonizing," The man said as he began walking towards Cindy, Cindy pulled the trigger but she missed him completely.
"Huh?" Cindy thought to herself as only then did she realize that she was trembling.
"You might have thought you conquered your fear but your body remembers the sensation..." The man said as he kept walking towards Cindy.
Cindy emptied her clip but not a single bullet touched the man before her.
"You see?" The man blurted out but Cindy found that she couldn’t even move.
She thought her husband was a monster once upon a time, that was until she met this man.
This man was the most depraved of them all, he was a sadistic prick that not only targeted humans to act out his perverse or depraved fantasies but zombies as well.
It took all the Specters to even get a chance at defeating him and even then, they couldn’t kill him because they knew he still had sympathizers and as long as they kept him alive, the peace should be maintained.
They knew a day like this might come but never did they know it would come at the worst possible time because they weren’t prepared for it.
And Rodrigo just established that there were other enemies present causing further confusion.
Cindy felt his cold hand touch her jaw as he slowly raised her head to look him right in the eyes.
"I missed you, Cindy..." The man said.
"But you don’t need to worry, I will not let you depart from me. You will return to life just like our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ... Then, you will be purified from this corrupted flesh of yours," The man said, Cindy gulped because she knew she was about to die and there was nothing she could do.
"Move...!" Cindy tried to will her body to listen to her but it didn’t work. She felt his hands slowly wrap around her neck as he began to squeeze the life out of him.
The fact that he wasn’t in optimal health but somehow was still this strong was ridiculous because how strong would he be at full strength?
"Stop it...Lorenzo" A hoarse voice warned the man as a pistol was pressed to the back of his head.
"That voice..." Lorenzo blurted out with a sickening grin but his grip on Cindy’s neck did loosen.
"The Eight Specters, Joseph," Lorenzo completed his dialogue because now he had two Specters here, he could kill both of them to cut down their numbers further.
It would have been a lot easier if they could kill him but the man that sat on the throne gave very specific orders not to and this was about to cost them.
