Chapter 140: Negotiation....
Chapter 140: Negotiation....
Sam held the upper hand in their negotiation and these men knew not to piss him off.
Sam had shown them that he was more than capable of taking care of himself and he had no problems taking a life to do so.
"Tell me what it is that you’re looking for. And tell me all you know about that thing..." Sam inquired and the men that had their fingers blown off screamed in pain.
"I don’t mean to be a dick but can you two fuck off? I can’t hear myself think," Sam commanded and the men snarled at him.
They couldn’t believe the audacity of this man but Sam wasn’t giving them much of a choice.
"Or I could shut them up forever," Sam said and the hateful gaze he got turned to fear because this man wasn’t bluffing.
"There would be no need for that, both of you should head to the infirmary and get that looked at," The man instructed and they did just that even though they weren’t comfortable leaving with someone as crazy as Sam.
"You see? I’m willing to cooperate with you," The man said but Sam wasn’t impressed by this.
Sam gestured for him to come to him and the man listened to him but he froze in fear the moment he saw what Sam had done to the first man.
He tried to reach for his gun and to his surprise Sam didn’t move to intercept him.
The man halted halfway because something told him that if he took his gun out of its holster then Sam would kill him.
He could feel it in his bones, Sam was a threat that shouldn’t be messed with and it had been a very long time since he had seen a killer with such instinct.
He had composed himself because if he could get Sam on his side, then this loss would be nothing.
Sam’s value easily eclipsed that of a few men and this man was beginning how Sam was the only survivor of the apocalypse.
Sam wanted a reaction from him and he nearly got it, the man nearly took the bait.
"The man we’re looking for is a doctor, we don’t know how he escaped but we have reason to believe his last location was at the military base... I’m sorry about your friends but even I’m shocked that a horde could do so much damage to the military," The man said.
Sam, however, knew the questions to ask and the redundant information to discard.
"This man, the doctor, what kind of rubbish did you have him work on here?" Sam said and the man was hesitant to divulge this information.
"He is the man in charge of finding the cure," The man responded and Sam’s interest peaked.
"A cure? There is a chance of a cure?" Sam asked and the man nodded to confirm this.
"Tell me about this cure," Sam asked and once again, the man was hesitant.
There was no telling what Sam would do to him once he gave him all the information he needed.
"That was the goal but that man, he had other ideas... We thought he was looking for a cure but it turns out he was looking for a way to weaponize it," The man said and Sam sighed.
He could have predicted this, this was the nature of mankind and this was why they were even in this mess in the first place.
"The zombie... It didn’t walk," Sam said, showing his willingness to share information with him.
"Pardon?" The man responded and Sam was willing to repeat himself.
"Have you ever seen a zombie run and latch onto walls like a spider? It even had the intelligence to protect its brain. I don’t know what your friend is up to but something tells me he would be better off dead than alive," Sam said and the man gulped as he could feel Sam’s killing intent.
"We can’t kill him. He might be a madman but he is humanity’s last chance at a cure," The man responded but Sam scoffed upon hearing this.
"Why won’t you people wake up? This is the new world and I have to admit, I would rather it stay this way..." Sam said.
The man wasn’t sure if Sam was going to attack him but all Sam did was walk over to his bed, stepping over the corpse of the man he had just killed.
"Of course, I need to rest. Get me something to eat," Sam commanded and the man was relieved that things went their way.
He hated to admit it but they needed Sam a lot more than he needed them.

The commander of the wall was unconscious, they couldn’t identify any wound entry either so whatever it was had to be oral.
This meant it had to be something he ate or even something that was given to him.
Mariam used this opportunity to get Allison out of her office for now as they had more important things to worry about but she also gave her word that Allison was clean.
She didn’t do anything wrong and the past was the past, Mariam looked beyond what they were as long as they could provide value.
A Specter had actual combat and no qualms about taking a human life, there was a big difference between killing a zombie and killing a person.
"What the hell happened?" Mariam asked, for the first time looking shaken.
There was no way someone within the walls would do something so atrocious or this was what she wanted to believe.
Allison was some distance away from Mariam with Bella standing beside her as they all watched him, Mariam looked way too invested for this to be a normal incident.
"There’s something she isn’t telling us," Allison said and Bella knew what this looked like.
"You picked up on it too?" Bella said; these were people that stayed in a camp ruled by criminals. They understood what fear of a rebellion looked like and the ladies realized that this place wasn’t as protected as they thought.
