#341 - Chapter 75 The Road Home (Part 4)

As night fell, Arya arrived in the inn's common room. Jenny was already there, waiting. She smiled and led Arya to a corner near the fireplace, gesturing for her to sit down. Arya looked closely and saw a large dining table laden with a variety of rich dishes. Beside the table were three large wooden bowls filled with chunks of mutton, still bloody and on the bone. Nymeria, having received her master's permission, eagerly began to devour the meat. She chewed with gusto, even tearing at the bones, a sound that made those present shudder.

Meanwhile, the people in the inn began to discuss various news items, and Arya listened quietly, hoping to hear something about the North or her family.

Just then, a familiar voice sounded beside her: "Ary! It really is you, this is wonderful." Arya looked up and saw a chubby little man in an apron, holding a tray in front of her.

"It's Hot Pie! Don't you remember me?" The little man smiled, revealing a mouthful of white teeth.

Arya's eyes lit up. She hadn't expected to meet a former companion from their escape. "Hot Pie! It really is you! Weren't you sold to the Inn of the Kneeling Man by the Brotherhood Without Banners to pay off a debt? How did you get here?" She stood up and gave him a big hug, which made the little man blush.

The two began to chat, asking about each other's recent experiences. Hot Pie told Arya, "I'm the cook here now. My former boss inherited her brother's inn, and I came here with her. There are a lot of customers here, and I'm busy every day, but I really like this job."

Arya listened and was happy for him. "That's great, Hot Pie. You seem to be doing well." She looked Hot Pie up and down, noticing some grease stains on his apron and a hint of fatigue on his face, but his eyes were full of contentment and joy.

Hot Pie smiled and said, "Yeah, I really like cooking. Seeing the customers enjoy the food I make makes me feel very accomplished. And the people here are easy to get along with, we're like one big family."

Arya nodded, understanding. She knew that Hot Pie had always been a kind and optimistic person, and he would be liked by others wherever he went.

Then, Hot Pie asked curiously, "Ary, where have you been all these years? I've always missed the days when we were on the run together."

Arya smiled slightly, recalling those difficult times. "I've been through a lot, met some good people, and encountered a lot of difficulties. But I've been working hard to become stronger." She briefly described her experiences, including learning swordsmanship and joining the Faceless Men. But she concealed the thrilling story of her assassination attempt in King's Landing. She recounted in detail what she had seen and heard along the way, including the various people and events she had encountered, as well as the purpose of her current trip.

Hot Pie listened intently, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes. "Wow, you're amazing! I'm really proud of you," he said sincerely.

Arya smiled and looked at him gratefully. "Thank you, Hot Pie. Actually, I also miss those days, and the time we spent together."

The two smiled at each other, as if they were back in the old days. They chatted and enjoyed the delicious food, and the atmosphere was very harmonious.

Finally, Hot Pie patted Arya on the shoulder and encouraged her, "No matter what happens in the future, you must stick to your beliefs and believe that you will be able to achieve your dreams."

Arya nodded, her heart filled with warmth and strength. She knew that no matter when or where, as long as she had the support and encouragement of her friends, she would be able to move forward courageously.

Hot Pie listened carefully, interjecting with a few words from time to time. He said thoughtfully, "I heard that the North is still at war, it's really dangerous there. You're traveling alone, you must be especially careful. But if you encounter any trouble or difficulties along the way, you can always come to me. I will do everything I can to help you!"

Arya nodded gratefully. She knew very well that it was rare to be able to make friends with someone as kind, enthusiastic, and good-hearted as Hot Pie. "Remember what I told you before? If one day you don't want to be a cook anymore, you can come to me. Whether it's the position of head cook at Riverrun or Winterfell, I can arrange it for you."

Hot Pie's eyes lit up when he heard this, and he said happily, "That's great! Thank you, Arya! By the way, this is a kidney pie that I just made. Come and taste it while it's hot, what do you think!"

As night fell, Arya returned to her room after dinner. She collapsed on the soft, comfortable bed and began to think about her next journey. She knew that the road ahead was still long, full of unknowns and challenges, but she was not afraid. Because she had firm beliefs and courage, she would soon be reunited with her family. She gently stroked Nymeria's soft, smooth fur, feeling her gentle breathing, and Arya's thoughts gradually drifted into the distance, as if she were in another world. In this peaceful atmosphere, she unconsciously fell into a sweet dream.

The next day, at dawn, before the sun had risen, Arya was already awake. She quickly completed her simple wash and enjoyed a hearty breakfast. Then, she carefully checked the equipment she was carrying, making sure nothing was missing, before turning to the front desk of the inn to settle her room bill with Jenny. Just as she mounted her horse and was about to step out of the gate of the Crossroads Inn, Hot Pie suddenly came running from behind, shouting as he ran, "Wait! Wait!"

Hearing the shout, Arya immediately stopped and turned around in confusion. She saw Hot Pie running up to her breathlessly, holding a bulging package in his hands. He handed the package to Arya and said, "This is some food and water that I specially prepared for you, you can eat and drink on the road."

Hot Pie handed the package to Arya and said with concern, "The journey to the North is long and arduous, these things may be able to help you. And this is what I made for you personally..." With that, he took out a freshly baked wolf-shaped bread from behind him, still steaming.

Arya took the bread, and a warm current surged through her heart. She truly felt the concern and affection of her friend, and couldn't help but feel her eyes moisten. She looked at Hot Pie gratefully and said, "Thank you, Hot Pie. This bread is much prettier than the last one. If I have the chance, I will definitely come back to see you."

"Have a safe trip, Arya!" Hot Pie waved his hand, saying goodbye to Arya as she gradually moved away. Arya gently patted Nymeria's head and continued on her journey north. As time passed, their figures gradually moved away and eventually disappeared into the distant horizon.
