Chapter 1242: Who’s Your Brother!
Chapter 1242: Who’s Your Brother!
Yuan Zhen quickly changed his words: "What I mean is, it’s truly satisfying."Yuan Ruxin followed and said: "Exactly, the Emperor tormented Father and Brother so much; letting him feel some pain might reduce his focus on our family."
Zhi’er hesitated for a moment.
Seeing the siblings’ attitude, she decided not to reveal her miraculous healing of Xie Yu just yet.
She planned to first secure an immunity decree for the Yuan Family, easing their relationship with the Emperor, before mentioning it.
Zhi’er didn’t stay at the Yuan Residence for long before she returned to the imperial palace.
She reappeared in the side hall.
Before she could steady herself, she heard a deep voice: "You’ve appeared."
Zhi’er was startled.
Turning her eyes, she saw Xie Yu’s young figure behind the screen, appearing somewhat frail under the candlelight.
Zhi’er steadied herself: "You’ve... been waiting here all along?"
Xie Yu sneered: "Would I wait for you forever? Don’t dream."
Zhi’er responded: "That’s best because your ankle was just treated and isn’t fully healed yet; you need to lie down for four hours before getting up."
Xie Yu’s tone suddenly froze.
He shouted angrily: "Why didn’t you say so earlier!?"
Zhi’er walked from behind the screen and looked at his angry but handsome young face.
She laughed: "You didn’t ask me, besides, normally after a leg treatment one knows to lie down first, right?"
Zhi’er looked seriously at Xie Yu: "So, how long have you actually been sitting here?"
Seeing him so upset and annoyed, it seemed quite a while.
Xie Yu clenched his teacup, his gaze deep and dark.
"To verify whether you’re truly the free-roaming demoness, I’ve been sitting here since you left yesterday."
"So, are you satisfied?"
Zhi’er had guessed as much.
She went over and patted his shoulder: "Don’t speak with such hostility, little brother."
Xie Yu swatted her hand away: "Who is your little brother!"
Zhi’er glanced him up and down: "Pretty spry, it seems your blood circulation’s fine."
She raised her chin: "Stand up and walk a few steps; let me see."
Xie Yu turned his head reluctantly: "Why should I listen to you?"
Zhi’er raised an eyebrow: "You’re right."
She turned and opened the door, starting to walk out.
Xie Yu immediately stood up to follow her.
"Why are you leaving so suddenly?!" he asked, annoyed.
Zhi’er didn’t look back: "You won’t cooperate, so I have to leave."
Xie Yu cursed under his breath: "I’m walking, aren’t I? Turn around and look!"
Zhi’er turned and blinked her long lashes, seeing him move effortlessly; she smiled.
"Not bad; it’s fortunate you’re young and recover quickly. You should go lie down; although it’s healed, you can’t walk too much."
Yet Xie Yu continued to follow behind her like a persistent shadow.
"Are you treating the imperial palace as your home, wandering around aimlessly?" he called, dissatisfied.
Zhi’er didn’t turn around: "I’m hungry; I didn’t eat here yesterday before leaving."
Xie Yu paused for a moment.
"Then you’re going the wrong way; the Imperial Kitchen is in that direction," he pointed east.
Zhi’er immediately followed the direction he pointed.
Xie Yu continued to follow and defensively remarked: "I need to watch you, as you’re the demoness sent by the Yuan Residence, who knows what you might do in the palace."
Zhi’er couldn’t be bothered to mock his childish thoughts.
Upon reaching the Imperial Kitchen, the kitchen servants were preparing ingredients for the next day, startled to see the Emperor’s arrival.
They were all terrified and knelt hurriedly to pay their respects.
